After a strong-willed battle, passed surrounded by her family, at her home in Markdale on Saturday, April
1, 2023 in her 71st year. Beloved wife of 50 years to John. Loving mother to everyone but blessed with
Jonathan (Natalie George) of West Vancouver, Katrina (Giles) Ardiel of Rocklyn and Calvin (Ferris Boyd)
of Singhampton. Proud and amazing Grammie of Forest, Walter, Wilhelm, and a grandson on the way.
Like a sister to so many wonderful friends, family, and cohorts. Sibling of Brian Post (Catherine Lazette),
Gary (Benita) Post and Shelley (Ken) Rush. Preceded by her brothers Wayne, Dean, and Craig Post.
Survived by her sisters in-law Patricia and Shelley Post. She will be missed by many nieces, nephews,
great nieces, and great nephews.
Sharon was born on July 7, 1952 in Kitchener to Elaine and William Post. She attended various
elementary schools before settling in Markdale and graduating from Grey Highlands Secondary School.
She trained as a nurse in Sick Kids Hospital Toronto making friends in that program that would last a
lifetime. Her early years of nursing took her to several locations until she landed a position at Markdale
hospital where she would stay until her retirement in 2018.
Sharon married John her high school sweetheart. They raised their family together in Markdale and took
great pride in their community. Together experiencing many adventures and instilling in their children the
importance of love, kindness, generosity, and family.
Sharon was never too busy to listen, and share time with anyone in need. She genuinely cared for all
people no matter who you were. She made the best pies for miles with love baked into each bite. She
became a mother to everyone in need, be it advice, a meal or just a hug.
The family would like to extend sincere and deepest gratitude for all the amazing love and support that
the community, family, and special friends has and continues to extend in so many ways to both Sharon
and her family. Special thank you to Don and Kelly Boyce, Gloria & Roger McRae, Dave & Carol Cash, Carol-Ann & Dale Caswell. Nursing friends Red, Gloria and Anne, Sam, Nadine, Sally, Penny, and Dr.Winfield.
A celebration of Sharon's life will be held early summer; date to be announced. Cremation has taken
place with interment at Markdale Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the Centre Grey
Health Services Foundation or Owen Sound Oncology Department would be greatly appreciated. Online
