It is with great sorrow that the family announces that James “Jim” Sinclair Shaw passed away peacefully surrounded by family at Meaford Hospital on January 5, 2023 in his 85th year. He was predeceased by the love of his life, his wife of 50 years, Helen Vivian Shaw (nee Campbell) in 2011. Father of Murray (Patti) Shaw of Markdale, Barbara (Shaw) Black of Orangeville, and William “Bill” Shaw (Nicole Martin) of Markdale. Grandfather of Morgan (Matthew) McCallum and Randy Black (Caitlin Dermott), and Heather and Shannon Shaw. Great Grandfather of Rylee Vivian McCallum. Brother-in-law of Christena Moulton of Kincardine, and Ruth Siegel of Iverhuron. Predeceased by parents George and Nellie (nee Boland) Shaw.
Born in Markdale, Jim lived in the Boland Homestead at Vandeleur until 1947 when his family moved to Markdale. He was a dedicated member of the community, owning the Markdale Meat Market from 1965 until 1977. He was a Kinsman, a Mason, a volunteer, an elder at Annesley United Church, and a member of Town Council, serving as Deputy Reeve from 1990-1994. The family would like to thank the staff at Meaford Hospital for their kind and diligent care in his final days of life.
Cremation will take place with a spring interment at Markdale Cemetery, and a celebration of life at a later date.
