Obituary for Sheila Fraser Tacon (Young) PhD

Tacon; Dr. Sheila Fraser(nee Young)

After a long, fully lived life, passed peacefully on Thursday, July 28, 2022 at her home of Dufferin Oaks, Shelburne, formerly of Aurora in her 89th year. Reunited with her beloved husband the late Douglas Bush. Loving mother of Paul(Susie Davies), Daphne(Ken Millar) and Carl(Lyn Carter). Loved and remembered by her grandchildren Astrid Tacon, Georgina and Adrian Alonso. She is predeceased by her parents Dr. Herbert and Flornie Young, her cherished sister Ann Collie and brother John Young.

Sheila grew up in Peterborough spending summers at Chemong Lake near Bridgenorth, where at 8 years old she won the under 10 canoe race.
Sheila graduated from Trinity College, University of Toronto with a BA in 1956. She went on to receive her Doctorate degree from the University of London, England in 1958, at the age of 24 and one month before the birth of her first child. Sheila retired in 1997 from a long career as the senior psychologist for the York Region Board of Education.
In her private life Sheila loved entertaining and was an avid games player, particularly poker and Yahtzee. Sheila also loved the rides at Canada’s Wonderland and could tell you how many times she’d ridden the different roller coasters each summer. Sheila was always positive, bubbly and full of life. She will be greatly missed by all who had the good fortune to know her.

A private family service will take place and she will be interred at the family plots at the Bridge North Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to charities that were close to Sheila's heart; Alzheimer Society, Multiple Sclerosis Society or the Canadian Cancer Society, would be gratefully appreciated.
