Obituary for Lorna Elaine Ellis (Peart)

Lorna Elaine Ellis (née Peart), of North Bay, passed away at the North Bay Regional Health Centre on Saturday, February 26th, 2022, in her 87th year. Beloved wife of Harvey Ellis, dear sister of Wayne Peart (late Janet) and Ross Peart (late Brenda), both of Durham, Ontario. She will be missed by her children Kathy (North Bay), David(Collingwood), Kim and her husband Gilles (Astorville),and Stephen (North Bay). She leaves behind nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Dear sister-in-law of Art and Bernice Hastie and the late Laurence Ellis. Predeceased by her parents Reta and Oren Peart of Durham.

Raised on a farm in Glenelg Township, in high school she was a proud member of the Durham Girls Drum and Bugle Corps. She married her high school sweetheart Harvey, with whom she celebrated 64 adventurous years of marriage. A graduate of Stratford Teachers College, she later completed her arts degree at Laurentian University. The pinnacle of her career was assisting in developing the adult special education program in Sault Ste. Marie.

Lorna dearly loved her family and her gardens. In her retirement years, she and Harvey travelled extensively throughout the world. Her passion for nature and the outdoors has been passed on to her children and grandchildren. She will be dearly missed.

In accordance with Lorna's wishes, cremation arrangements have been made with Fawcett Funeral Home in Flesherton. A celebration of life will be arranged at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Knox United Church, Box 355, Durham, Ontario N0G 1R0, or to the Zion Glenelg Community Cemetery, care of Ralph Peart, 694 26th Avenue, Hanover, Ontario N4N 0B7.
