Obituary for Christopher Gordon Ellis
Chris, my wonderful husband and precious perfect soulmate, passed away suddenly Monday morning. Until four weeks ago we were as always living our best lives blissfully happily and fully. After feeling ill for a couple of weeks, Chris was diagnosed just 12 days ago with very advanced brain cancer. After emergency surgery, characteristic of Chris he continued smiling, laughing and making smart comments until losing the fight early Monday.
In retirement after his (and my) many great adventures building and leading Triumph’s Canada business for 20 years, we were organizing ourselves with Beau and Jada our beloved poodles for post-Covid wide and deep motorhome and motorcycle explorations of North America. Chris the obsessed entrepreneur had started consulting to smaller motorcycle brands establishing and growing their businesses in Canada, but we keenly anticipated growing old -actively but, yes, disgracefully.
From the loss and the suddenness, I and Chris’s family members and friends are feeling numb and empty. His boundless generosity and spirited enjoyment of everyone and everything he touched was great fun and contagious for us all, and right now we have no clue how we’ll fill the void. The past week, I read to Chris your many beautiful loving texts and was encouraged by the happiness it brought him as he tried to pull through. I was so very fortunate to be with him as took his last breath, and to know that as he passed quietly and peacefully he knew how deeply he was trusted, respected and loved by so many.
A huge thank you to Dr. DJ Cook and the Kingston Health Sciences Centre team members – and to Donni and Wendy, Chris’s very special sisters who’ve been a godsend throughout. When we can, we will gather for a roaring celebration of this wonderful man who was, is and will always be the truly unique Chris Ellis. In the meantime, you can celebrate Chris with donations to the Canadian Cancer Society.
