Obituary for Jean Isabelle Reed (MacMillan)

Reed; Jean Isabelle(nee MacMillan)
Peacefully at her home in Proton Station on Wednesday, June 3, 2020 in her 82nd year. She is reunited with her beloved husband Garnet who passed in 2012. Loving mother of Laurie Balick, Ron(Sue) all of Mississauga and Rob(Kellie) of Rock Mills. Loved and remembered by her grandsons Harrison, Garnet, Sean, Carson, Bryant and Garrett. Dear sister of Dorothy Duncan of Markdale, Bill(Joan) MacMillan, Angus(Karen) MacMillan, Doug(Sheila) all ofDurham, brother in-law Jess Harmon and sisters in-law Flora(the late Blaine) Edmonson and Lin Reed. Predeceased by siblings Donna Harmon, Beth McLaughlin and Robert MacMillan, brothers in-law Jim Duncan and Eric McLaughlin.

Jean was born in Flesherton to Jack and Annie MacMillan on May 7, 1939. She attended school in Flesherton and graduated from Nursing School in Kitchener in 1959. Jean married the love of her life, Garnet, on November 5, 1960. After retiring from a successful nursing career at Markdale Hospital, she remained active in Kinettes/K40 and the Ladies Group at St Johns United Church, and had more time for knitting, Sequence, and whatever TV she wanted to watch (being the owner of the remote). Before and after her stroke, she was always an enthusiastic fan at every sporting event of every grandson she could get to, always getting her Timmies quota along the way.

The family encourages you to join them in celebrating Jean’s life, via facebook.com/fawcettfunerahome on Sunday, June 7 at 1:30pm. She will be laid to rest with her husband at the Evergreen Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be gratefully appreciated. Online donations and condolences at www.fawcettfuneralhome.ca 888-924-2810
