Reed; Jean Isabelle(nee MacMillan)
Peacefully at her home in Proton Station on Wednesday, June 3, 2020 in her 82nd year. She is reunited with her beloved husband Garnet who passed in 2012. Loving mother of Laurie Balick, Ron(Sue) all of Mississauga and Rob(Kellie) of Rock Mills. Loved and remembered by her grandsons Harrison, Garnet, Sean, Carson, Bryant and Garrett. Dear sister of Dorothy Duncan of Markdale, Bill(Joan) MacMillan, Angus(Karen) MacMillan, Doug(Sheila) all ofDurham, brother in-law Jess Harmon and sisters in-law Flora(the late Blaine) Edmonson and Lin Reed. Predeceased by siblings Donna Harmon, Beth McLaughlin and Robert MacMillan, brothers in-law Jim Duncan and Eric McLaughlin.

Jean was born in Flesherton to Jack and Annie MacMillan on May 7, 1939. She attended school in Flesherton and graduated from Nursing School in Kitchener in 1959. Jean married the love of her life, Garnet, on November 5, 1960. After retiring from a successful nursing career at Markdale Hospital, she remained active in Kinettes/K40 and the Ladies Group at St Johns United Church, and had more time for knitting, Sequence, and whatever TV she wanted to watch (being the owner of the remote). Before and after her stroke, she was always an enthusiastic fan at every sporting event of every grandson she could get to, always getting her Timmies quota along the way.

The family encourages you to join them in celebrating Jean’s life, via on Sunday, June 7 at 1:30pm. She will be laid to rest with her husband at the Evergreen Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be gratefully appreciated. Online donations and condolences at 888-924-2810

We send the family our deepest sympathy, thoughts and prayers. We have such fond memories of Jean. She was a true friend to our family while we still resided on our farm near Flesherton & she kept in touch with us through Facebook and still called us on the telephone. She certainly was a very lovely lady and we really enjoyed being a part of Circle of Friends group. God Bless you Jean and your family. We will really miss you. Peace Be With You.

Thoughts and memories of Jean, and condolences to her family. Was a hockey Mom with Jean years ago, and remember times spent with her at get togethers with friends, there was always a laugh or two, and that contagious smile. God bless, may she rest in peace. Xo

We (Postlethwaite Family) give our condolences to Laurie, Ron, and Rob and their families for their loss. One fond memory that Bill and I share is a visit with Uncle Garnet and Aunt Jean that occurred when we stopped at the house and Bill enjoyed some Swish (alcoholic homemade drink). We always looked forward to stopping in at Garnet & Jean's house on our way up north. When I was young I stayed one summer at the Reed's house to take swimming lessons and that was very considerate.

So sorry to hear of the loss of Jean. Both my Mom and I had the pleasure of working with Jean through the years at CGG Hospital. Jean was a great nurse and cohort. My prayers and sympathy to all her family.
