Obituary for Andrew Paul McQuaid

McQuaid; Andrew Paul

Peacefully with family by his side, at Markdale Hospital. Resident of Markdale in his 57th year. Beloved husband of Jenny. Loving father of Kaitlyn McQuaid, Logan and Ashley Hunking. Andy will be greatly missed by brother Fred (Ronna) of Acme, AB, sister-in-law Tracy (Ryan) Nietvelt-Prentice, parents in law Ron Gillespie and Angela Gillespie and son by heart Rob Hollinger. Outstanding uncle to Andrew and Daniel Nietvelt-Prentice.

Andy was a fun loving, hard working and extremely proud father and husband. He could always make people laugh with the stories he told. Andy was someone who could be depended on to help friends and family in any way that he could, and never took people for granted. He was often up early in the morning getting things done and believed, "If you are going to do a job, do it right the first time". Having lived with cancer for over 15 years, he was a fighter. He loved working with the guys at Jonsteel, fixing things around the farm, working on his tractors, and fishing at Bells Lake. He was always happy to spend time playing "Hide and Seek", peekaboo and other games with his daughter Kaitlyn, and talking with Logan and Ashley about their interests. He also enjoyed driving his F-100 pick-up truck, going out on the 4-wheeler, and camping.

The family will receive friends at a Celebration of Life at Fawcett Funeral Cremation Reception, Flesherton on Friday, January 24, 2020 from 1-3pm. There will be a book available to share your favourite memory of Andy. In lieu of flowers, donations to an Education Fund for Kaitlyn by cheque at the funeral home or via e-transfer, please contact the funeral home for more details. Donations to the Owen Sound Hospital Oncology Unit online at https://www.oshfoundation.ca/r4o/ , would be greatly appreciated.
