Passed peacefully at South Bruce Grey Hospital, Chesley on Saturday January 4, 2020. Formerly of Markdale in his 87th year. Beloved husband of the late Helen(2018). Loving father of Dean and Denise of Irish Lake. Loved and remembered by grandsons Colton and Ashley of Texas and Tyler and Katlin of Mitchell. Adoring great grandfather of Jaxon. Ralph will be greatly missed by sister Shirley Pollard of Courtice and sister in law Sharon Lyons of Innisfil. Predeceased by siblings Marian Holmes, Harvey Lyons, Ruth Clarke and Zella Jacobi.
Born March 2, 1933 in Proton Township to Ernest and Gertrude Lyons. Ralph worked on the Canadian Pacific Railroad for approximately 20 years before moving to Northern electric in 1968 where he worked for 25 years before retiring in 1993. Ralph married Helen McCutcheon on October 2, 1954 in Wareham. After raising their family in Orangeville, they retired and moved to the Irish Lake cottage where Ralph enjoyed looking after his wood lot and spending time outdoors. Ralph was part of the Markdale COHL League Champion in the early 1950’s, winning 3 years in a row. Over the last couple of years his favourite past time was following his favourite sports teams.
The family will receive friends at Fawcett Funeral Cremation Reception on Wednesday, January 8, 2020 from 4-6pm and Thursday from 1pm until the time of service in the chapel at 2pm. Interment at the Flesherton Cemetery Columbarium in the spring, date to be announced. Donations to the Centre Grey Hospital Foundation or charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated.
