McDermid; Fern Elizabeth(nee McConnell)

After a short battle, passed peacefully at Grey Bruce Health Service, Markdale on Tuesday, August 14, 2018 from Flesherton in her 78th year. Beloved husband of 60 years to Ivan. Loving mother of Randy of Kitchener, Deborah and Rodney(Judy) both of Guelph. Loved and remembered by grandchildren Jade, Samantha, Cody and great grandson Braxton. Dear sister of Edgar(Ruth) McConnell of Leamington and sister in-law of Velma of Collingwood. Predeceased by sister Vera Meldrum and brother Leonard.

Fern was born in Flesherton on January 7, 1941 to Beryl and Edith McConnell. Fern attended school in Maxwell and graduated from Flesherton District High School. She met the love of her life and married Ivan on April 19, 1958 at Cedarside Baptist Church in Flesherton. They raised their three beautiful children in the Guelph area. Fern found a career as a meat wrapper in a variety of grocery stores in Guelph. An advid gardening, always keeping them beautiful at home, doing ceramics, and keeping the family fed with her wonderful baking.

The family will receive friends at the Fawcett Funeral Cremation Reception, Flesherton on Friday, August 17 from 1:00 until the celebration of Fern’s life at 2:00pm. Interment at Flesherton Cemetery.
