Smykal; Libuse (nee Rezac)
After a brief battle with cancer, passed peacefully at home with her family by her side on Wednesday, May 16, 2018 of Singhampton in her 77th year. Beloved husband of Stefan of 52 years. Loving mother of Robert of Singhampton and Richard and his wife Shelly of Brampton. Loved and remembered by her granddaughters Samantha and Jessica. Dear sister of 8 brothers and predeceased by sister Yitka Zitek.
Libuse was born in Prague, Czech on March 26, 1942 to Joseph and Mary Rezac. She graduated from chef school and was one of the first female master chefs. Libuse also was on the National Women’s rowing team for Czech. She met and married the love of her life, Stefan in 1965. They immigrated to Canada, and after many stops through the country, they found themselves settling into Toronto where they could both find jobs and they could start a family.
Retirement brought them to the Flesherton area where she very much enjoyed buying and selling antiques, especially her Wade Anitques. A large portion of her collection was featured in a book, as she has one of the rarest collections in North America. She spent much time knitting, sewing and crocheting having experience as a seamstress.
A celebration of Libuse’s life will be held at Fawcett Funeral Cremation Reception, Flesherton on Friday, MAY 25, 2018 at 1:00 pm with visitation for 1 hour prior to the service. Cremation has taken place. Libuse will be interred at a later date in a family plot with her mother and sister. If desired, memorial contributions to the Salvation Army – Collingwood would be gratefully appreciated. www.fawcettfuneralhome.ca 888-924-2810
