Conron; Kathleen Alice (nee Last) RAF WWII
Peacefully at the South Bruce Grey Health Services, Durham on Tuesday, January 23, 2018 in her 96th year. Kathleen is reunited with her late husband Walter(2005). Beloved mother of Anne Stroud of Durham. She was the loving aunt of John(Norma) Last, Trish(the late Klaus) Hanisch and great aunt of Julie Last(Edwardo Santos) and Christie Last(Spencer Gutcher). Predeceased by her brother John Last and his wife Gwen.
Kathleen was born in England on November 2, 1922. She enlisted in the Royal Air Force during the Second World War doing secretarial work. It was with this work that she met, and married the love of her life, Walter Alexander on September 25, 1943. They settled as a married couple in Willowdale, Toronto. Walter, having experience in the RCAF, got a job working for the Metro Toronto Police Department, which took them out to Woodbridge. It was their retirement in 1988 that brought them to beautiful Durham, ON. Kathleen much loved to read, walking and enjoying the country living. Her property gave her time to enjoy her dogs, and Anne’s dogs, the birds feeding at her many bird houses and most of all her antiques. Whether shopping at antique shows or finding new shops, she always found something she liked.
The family will receive friends at the Fawcett Funeral Cremation Reception, Flesherton on Saturday, January 27 from 12noon until the time of funeral service at 1pm. Spring interment at St. Paul’s Cemetery, Innisfil. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the Durham and Community Health Care Foundation would be gratefully appreciated.
