David Martin Watson, age 70, passed away peacefully on December 27, 2017 with his wife, Anne, at his side. Born June 20, 1947 in Lancashire, England to the late Marjory (Varley) and the late Harry Watson. He grew up at Booth Bridge Farm in West Yorkshire and worked as a dry stone waller, shepherd, cattle man and trucker/mechanic. In 1975, David immigrated to Canada where he later managed a large sheep operation in Cookstown, Ontario. In 1985, David moved to Creemore, Ontario where he began his own commercial sheep farm and met the love of his life, Anne Childerhose-Ellingwood. Together they moved with Anne's son, Ryan, to a farm outside of Belgrave, Ontario running a successful commercial sheep farm, steel and retail gate business. In 2001, they moved to Glenelg Township where they have goats, horses and a small egg business.
Dear brother to Kevin Watson (Julie) in Leeds, England. Uncle to Martin Watson of Leeds, England. Nephew of Lewis Varley of Silverside, England and Jean Ratray of Scotland. Proud stepfather and friend to Ryan Ellingwood (Jessica), grandfather to Alexa and Brianna Ellingwood. Brother-in-law of Susan Peacock-Todd and George Todd. Uncle to Dr. Andrea Ryan (Tom) and Christopher Peacock (Kim). Great friend to Dennis Stephenson (Helen) of Australia, and to Carolyn and Brian Stephenson of England. Special friend to neighbors Ann Maher and Robert Webster. He will be missed by many friends and neighbors in Glenelg.
The family will receive friends at the Fawcett Funeral Cremation Reception, Flesherton on Tuesday, January 2 from 4:00-6:00pm. Cremation has taken place.
