Obituary for Evelyn Grace Parks (McNichol)

Parks; Evelyn Grace P.M.
After a lengthy life, Evelyn passed on Tuesday, December 12, 2017 at Errinrung Nursing Home, Thornbury of Ravenna at the age of 94. She is reunited with her beloved husband Hugh who passed in 1992. She leaves behind three loving children; Murray(Lois) , Lyle all of Ravenna and Wanda of Thornbury and her adoring grandchildren Shelley Parks-Storey of Clarksburg, David(Dawn) of Feversham and Margaret of Owen Sound. Evelyn was the proud great grandmother of Madaline and Leanna Parks. Survived by sister Florence(Sam) Bistretzan of Ravenna and predeceased by brothers Allan McNichol, Lorenzo(Ivey) McNichol and sister Mildred(Dan) Bistretzan. She will be fondly remembered by Darren Storey, her sister in-law Grace McNichol and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and many friends.
Evelyn was born July 23, 1923 in Ravenna to William and Minnie McNichol. She met and married the love of her life, Hugh Burton in 1942. In her younger years she worked picking apples and working at Craigleith Ski Club in the kitchen. She adored raising her children, working away in the kitchen and of course, farming. As the children grew, she thoroughly enjoyed spoiling her grandchildren and then great grandchildren. The Feversham Friendship Circle kept her busy along with the Order of the Eastern Star; she was Worthy Matron of Grey Chapter #170 in 2000 with her son Murray joining her in the East as Worthy Patron. When she made the decision to move to Errinrung, her family still ensured she was home every other weekend and didn’t miss any events. She much looked forward to her weekends at home with family. Her smile and great sense of humour will be greatly missed.
The family will receive friends at Fawcett Funeral Cremation Reception, Flesherton on Friday, December 15 from 3:00-6:00pm. Sisters and brother of the Order of the Eastern Star are called for service at the funeral home on Friday at 2:45pm. Funeral service to celebrate Evelyn’s life will be held from the Osprey Community Centre, Feversham on Saturday at 11:00am. Cremation to follow with interment at Thornbury-Clarksburg Union Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the Salvation Army, Collingwood would be greatly appreciated. Online condolences and donations at www.fawcettfuneralhome.ca 888-924-2810
