Peacefully, with her family by her side, on November 26, 2017 at Grey Bruce Health Service, Markdale of Dundalk in her 81st year. Loving mother of Julie(Chris) Cochrane of Owen Sound, Nancy(Garry) Lipsett of Singhampton, Kevin(Paula) Wood of Owen Sound and the late David and Christie. Loved and remembered by 13 grandchildren and many great grandchildren. Fondly remembered by Les Wood. Dear sister of Doris Wallace of Shelburne. Predeceased by parents Della Green, Stanley Gilkes and step-father Lawrence Green, sisters Betty Hewgill, Gladys Osborne and brother Donald Gilkes.
Born December 5, 1936 to Della and Stanley Gilkes in Proton Station, the eldest of 5 children. She was the proud mother of 5 children and adored raising them. Thelma loved to bake, play pepper, watch and play curling but most of all she loved to do for others, often over and above what she should. She enjoyed gambling and time with her grandchildren and had a real place in her heart for animals.
The family will receive friends at the Fawcett Funeral Home, Flesherton on Wednesday, November 29, 2017 from 7:00pm – 9:00pm and for 1 hour prior to the service on Thursday, November 30, 2017 at 2:00pm from the funeral home chapel.
